Release time:Oct 22, 2026 | en.hit.edu.cn

Recently, the 2026 Executive Committee Meeting of the International Association of Transportation Infrastructure (INTATI) was held, during which Professor Tan Yiqiu of Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) was elected Co-Chair of the Association for the 2026-2028 term, becoming the first Chinese scholar to serve in this position.

Professor Tan Yiqiu serves as Vice President of Harbin Institute of Technology and President of its Weihai Campus. A nationally recognized high-level talent, she has received numerous honors, including the National March 8 Red-Banner Pacesetter and the National May 1 Women's Pacesetter awards.

Professor Tan and her research team have long focused on the durability and safety of road infrastructure in cold regions. Addressing key challenges faced by snow- and ice-covered roads, including difficulties in operational risk management, insufficient anti-icing and skid-resistance capabilities, and a lack of effective frost-resistance technologies, the team has achieved major breakthroughs in several critical areas. These include risk assessment and early-warning technologies for winter transportation safety, active anti-icing and skid-resistant materials and systems, and intelligent pavement design and performance enhancement technologies for frost resistance. Their work has led to the establishment of a comprehensive technological framework for the early warning, prevention, and control of road ice-and-snow hazards. The technologies have been successfully applied to major infrastructure projects, including the renovation of Chang'an Avenue, the airfield area of Beijing Daxing International Airport, the Qinghai-Tibet Highway, and the East Tianshan Tunnel. These achievements have played an important role in ensuring transportation safety during the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics and the 9th Asian Winter Games.

The International Association of Transportation Infrastructure (INTATI), founded in 1995, is committed to promoting research, knowledge exchange, and professional cooperation in the field of transportation infrastructure. INTATI brings together researchers, engineers, policymakers, and industry professionals from around the world to contribute to the innovative and sustainable development of transportation infrastructure.
