On August 7, the opening ceremony for the 2026 Chinese Language Training Class (Phase 1) of the School of International Education, Harbin Institute of Technology, Weihai, was held at the HIT Qingdao Innovation & Development Base. Forty-three international studentsfrom seven countries joined HIT(Weihai) to begin their studies in China. Officials from the School of International Education, the Qingdao Base, and Qingdao and ChengyangExit-Entry Administrationattended the ceremony.

Dean Zhang Ce of the School of International Education welcomed the new students, encouraging them to masterChinese as a tool for learning and a window into China, to embrace diversity with respect for different cultures and values, and to practice self-discipline as witnesses of cultural exchange and messengers of friendship.

Faculty representative Feng Jian pledged professional teaching and full support for students’growth. Student representative Farid, from Afghanistan,expressed excitement about studying in China and his commitment to improving Chinese proficiency and fostering cultural exchange.

Officials Li Yang and Jiang Baoli from local exit-entry and public security authorities briefed students on entry-exit rules and legal awareness to ensure safe study in China.
The program reflects HIT’s goal of advancing toward world-class status by expanding international education and innovating talent training. Under the School of International Education, students will study Chinese, improve communication skills, engage in cross-cultural exchange, experience traditional culture, and embody HIT’s motto of “Being strict in qualifications for graduates; making every endeavor in educating students.”while witnessing China’s development.
