On April 18, the 9th World‑Famous Universities Exhibition at Harbin Institute of Technology (Weihai) was held in the Library Lecture Hall. Nearly 20 prestigious overseas universities from eight countries and regions participated, including the University of Oxford (UK), the University of Cambridge (UK), RWTH Aachen University (Germany), Nanyang Technological University (Singapore), City University of Hong Kong, and Hanyang University (South Korea). The event attracted nearly 300 students from the campus. Qian Hongliang, Vice President of the Weihai Campus, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech.
In his address, Qian Hongliang said that this year marks the start of the 15th Five‑Year Plan period and the beginning of a new phase in which Harbin Institute of Technology aims to move from among the ranks of world-class universities to the forefront. It is also the inaugural year for the Weihai campus to set sail into a new stage of leapfrog, high‑quality development, building on 40 years of experience. He emphasized that internationalization is an essential path for the development of higher education. The Weihai campus has consistently prioritized internationalization, steadily deepening its global development strategy and promoting international cooperation toward connotative and high-quality growth.The campus will deepen comprehensive, in‑depth cooperation with world‑class universities and research institutions, strive to build a distinctive and competitive international education brand, and elevate its international collaboration to new heights.
The exhibition was organized by the Office of International Cooperation and jointly hosted by the School of Computer Science and Technology and Jinsong College. The venue was divided into four themed zones: the World‑Famous Universities Zone, the Study‑Abroad Consultation Zone, the Study‑Abroad Experts Zone, and the Fun Activities Zone, creating multiple channels for students to connect with overseas institutions and comprehensively meeting their study‑abroad planning needs.
