On October 23, a delegation led by Professor Stepanović Jovan, Rector of the University of Niš, Serbia, visited our campus. Tan Yiqiu, Assistant to the President of Harbin Institute of Technology and President of Weihai Campus, held talks with the visitors in Meeting Room 2 of the Main Building. The two parties signed a cooperation agreement and conducted in-depth exchanges on talent cultivation, scientific research cooperation and talent introduction. Qian Hongliang, Vice President of Weihai Campus, attended the talks.
Tan Yiqiu briefed the visitors on HIT's three-campus school-running pattern, development overview and achievements in internationalized education, with a focus on the campus's remarkable accomplishments in characteristic discipline construction, innovative talent training and scientific research fields in recent years. She noted that transportation engineering is a traditional advantageous discipline of HIT, which boasts numerous cooperation opportunities and broad prospects for collaboration with the University of Niš. She expressed the expectation that both sides will deepen cooperation in the field of transportation and continuously expand the breadth and depth of talent cultivation and scientific research cooperation.
Professor Stepanović Jovan spoke highly of HIT's status and influence in the global higher education sector. He stated that the University of Niš has always attached great importance to cooperation with universities in China, and HIT is one of its most important partners. He expressed the hope that this cooperation would serve as a catalyst to enhance mutual understanding with Weihai Campus and expand exchanges and cooperation in other academic disciplines.
Both sides agreed to strengthen collaboration in such areas as faculty and student exchanges, and joint research initiatives, so as to promote the implementation of substantive outcomes. On behalf of their respective universities, Tan Yiqiu and Professor Antić Dragan, Vice Rector of the University of Niš, signed the agreement for "the HIT-University of Niš International Joint Laboratory for Intelligent Transportation and Autonomous Driving."
During their visit, the delegation also toured the University History Museum. Responsible persons from the School of Ocean Engineering, School of Automotive Engineering, School of Information Science and Engineering, and the International Office attended the talks.
