From October 10th to 11th, the Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) held a symposium on the integrated development of international education and talent cultivation across its three campuses at its Weihai campus. Vice President Qian Hongliang attended the meeting and delivered a speech. Representatives from relevant units across the three campuses gathered to discuss new models and pathways for high-quality development of international education under the new circumstances.
Qian Hongliang introduced the distinctive features, internationalization progress, and international education and teaching activities of the Weihai campus. He stated that the Weihai campus coordinates all aspects of internationalization, leveraging the brand advantages of Harbin Institute of Technology and the locational advantages of Weihai, continuously exploring a new model of mutually reinforcing development for both studying abroad and studying in China, and adhering to the principle of cultivating talents with a global perspective, cross-cultural communication skills, and a sense of social responsibility. In the future, it will systematically promote internationalization and work together to elevate international education, teaching, and talent cultivation across the three campuses to a new level.
At the meeting, Zhao Yixiao, Dean of the School of International Education at Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT), shared information on the international student work at the main campus, detailing the enrollment methods, teaching models, management models, and overall training of both degree and non-degree international students. He explained relevant national policies on the opening up and internationalization of higher education and proposed working ideas and suggestions for cross-campus joint training mechanisms, coordination mechanisms, and the construction of a unified yet distinctive educational model. Li Dan, Deputy Director of the Office of International Affairs at the Shenzhen Campus, and Lu Jinzhang, Director of the International Education Center, shared the progress of international education at the Shenzhen Campus, introducing relevant policies, enrollment, teaching, and student management, and offering suggestions for improving international education. Zhang Ce, Dean of the School of International Education at the Weihai Campus, delivered a presentation titled "Two-Way Empowerment, Integrated Innovation: Building a New Ecosystem for International Educationat the Weihai Campus." In it, he outlined the campus's journey in international education and shared its current initiatives and future plans for both outbound and inbound student mobility.
Centering on the core concept of "Integrated Development, Led by International Education," the participants conducted in-depth analysis, discussions and exchanges on the development philosophy, strategic directions, path planning and practical cases of international education through themed seminars, work sharing sessions and other formats.
The seminar actively responded to the national call, focused on the international development strategy, coordinated the educational resources in international education across the university's three campuses, actively explored new mechanisms for cross-campus collaboration in international education and teaching, further built the distinctive "Study at HIT" brand with international influence and visibility, and promoted the university's internationalization efforts to a new level.
