The application for the 2026 3+2 Undergraduate-Master Joint Training Program with KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden at our campus has been launched. Relevant arrangements for on-campus application are hereby notified as follows:
I. Program Information
1. University Profile
Kungliga Tekniska högskolan (KTH Royal Institute of Technology in English) is a top European university and one of the world's top 100 universities, located in Stockholm, the capital of Sweden. Founded in 1827, it is the most prestigious technical university in Sweden, with approximately one-third of all engineers in Sweden graduating from this institution. As the largest and oldest public technical university in Sweden, KTH has been one of the main European centers for cultivating innovative and technological talents since 1827. It enjoys a high reputation in science and engineering fields both in Europe and around the world, particularly excelling in areas such as electronics, electrical engineering, sustainable energy, communications, architecture, industrial economics, urban planning and environmental technology.
2. Program Introduction
(1) Program Content
The program adopts a 3-year study period at Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) plus a 2-year study period at KTH Royal Institute of Technology. Upon successful completion of the academic requirements, HIT will award a bachelor's degree to eligible students, and KTH Royal Institute of Technology will award a master's degree to eligible students.
(2) Program Time
Students will go to study at KTH Royal Institute of Technology starting from the Fall Semester of 2026.
(3) Instruction Language
English.
3. Application Requirements
(1) Eligible Grade
Third-year registered undergraduate students of our university.
(2) Eligible Majors
All relevant engineering majors of our university are acceptable. Please refer to Pages 33-36 and Page 38 of the major list in Annex 1. (Majors marked with Harbin Campus and Weihai Campus are both eligible for application.)
(3) Language Requirements
TOEFL score of 90 (with writing score not lower than 20) or IELTS score of 6.5 (with no individual band score lower than 5.5).
(4) Fees
Applicants shall bear the relevant expenses themselves, which are subject to the final admission requirements of the host university. Students studying in Sweden as registered students of HIT shall also pay the tuition fees of HIT during their study period.
II. Application Procedures
Students intending to apply shall carefully formulate the courses to be taken during the exchange period and consult the opinions of their respective colleges (departments) regarding credit recognition and course make-up arrangements. Before 17:30 on December 26, 2025, send the electronic version of the Application Form (Annex 3) to the email address: liuqian@hit.edu.cn. Meanwhile, submit the paper materials including the Application Form for Student Overseas (Cross-Border) Programs (Annex 4, in duplicate), the Study Plan for Courses During Exchange (Annex 5), the Commitment Letter for Overseas (Cross-Border) Study Exchange (Annex 6), and the Parental Consent Form (Annex 7) to Room 221, Main Building. Students shall pay the tuition fees of HIT as scheduled during their absence from school and purchase medical and accident insurance covering the exchange period.
Note: Students must first obtain the signature and seal of the college leader on the Study Plan for Courses During Exchange to be recognized as the college’s approval for dispatch; otherwise, the application will be deemed invalid. Students applying for the 3+2 program shall strictly apply in accordance with the majors restricted in the agreement between the two universities as specified in the annex, i.e., it is recommended that students within the majors listed in the mapping list apply. Otherwise, KTH cannot guarantee the admission of students majoring in programs outside the mapping list.
All applicants are required to:
1. Submit an admission application and pay the application fee through the online application system provided by KTH Royal Institute of Technology.
2. All students must complete the application in accordance with the requirements, and the application steps are the same as those for regular master's programs. 3+2 applicants may be rejected due to not having obtained a bachelor's degree; please ignore this temporarily. KTH will resolve this issue one by one based on the program registration application information submitted by students on the website subsequently.

2. For program inquiries, you may directly send an email to KTH-China@kth.se.
3. Before applying for a major, you must check the admission prerequisites for the relevant major (required professional background, required credits for certain types of courses, etc.).
4. For 3+2 applicants, since they do not have a bachelor's graduation certificate, the Swedish side needs time to manually modify the application form for evaluation in the Swedish national application system. Therefore, the application form must be submitted by 17:30 on December 26 at the latest.
5. Application System Dates (Central European Time): The deadline for the application system is January 15, 2026; the deadline for submitting relevant materials is February 2, 2026; and the admission results will be announced on March 26, 2026. The deadline for 3+2 program applicants to submit application materials is December 26, 2025, and the deadline for paying the application fee is also December 26, 2025.
6. Please carefully fill in the application materials in the system as required. Failure to meet the application requirements will affect the application result.
7. Applicants are required to monitor their email inboxes for notifications regarding the follow-up work of program selection and keep their mobile phones accessible.
8. The final admission results are subject to the review of our university and the selection of the foreign university.
9. Applicants who have submitted their applications must apply for a passport on their own as soon as possible to avoid affecting the subsequent procedures for dispatch.
