Prof. Enrico Drioli Appointed as Visiting Professor of HITWH

On November 18 afternoon, the Visiting Professor Appointment Ceremony for Enrico Drioli of University of Calabria (UC), Italy, was held in the main building. Prof. Xu Xiaofei, Vice President of HIT and President of HITWH, issued the letter of appointment. The ceremony was presided by You Hong, Dean of School of Marine Science and Technology. Also present were 14 experts from 9 countries, leaders from Weihai Municipal Science and Technology Bureau of Foreign Exchange Center, officials and teachers from several schools.

During the ceremony, Prof. Xu showed sincere gratitude to Prof. Drioli for he’s long been supporting HITWH to hold EU-China Workshop on the Research and Application of Membrane, and welcomed him to serve as a visiting professor in HITWH and to cooperate in teaching and research. The Dean of China-Europe Membrane Technology Research Institute of HIT, Prof. Ma Jun, spoke highly of Prof. Driolis position of this field, hoping to get further guidance from him during the construction of China-Europe Membrane Technology Research Institute.

Prof. Drioli was glad to cooperate with HITWH and said he will make full use of his advantages and expertise in promoting the construction of China-Europe Membrane Technology Research Institute, pooling domestic and foreign resources and collaborating to create a membrane technology industrial park.

Prof. Drioli is the Honorary Chairman of Europe Membrane Society(EMS) and a member of UNESCO Membrane Technology Center Committee. His main research directions include membrane science and engineering, membranes for artificial organs, integrated membrane processes, membrane preparation and migration phenomena, membrane distillation and membrane contactors, catalytic membranes and membrane catalytic reactors. He won the Chard Merlin Barre Award for his outstanding contribution on Membrane Science and Technology in 2011, Czech Society for Chemical Engineering Honorary Member Award in 2012, Academy of Engineering Russian Academy of Sciences Schmeit-Nauv Academician Medal in 2014, the China Membrane Industry Association International Cooperation and Promotion of International Awards in 2015. Currently, he is the distinguished visiting professor of The University of Sydney and King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, and the honorary professor of UC, Russian Academy of Sciences, Northwest University, and Moscow Petroleum and Chemical Research Institute.
