The two parties had an in-depth discussion on joint cultivation of students, exchanges of teachers and other issues. Han Xixian, Assistant Dean of the School of Computer Science and Software Engineering and staff from International Office attended the meeting.
President Xu introduced the preparation work for the HIT-WHIP (HIT, Weihai Innovation Park) and the achievements of HITWH in education internationalization. He reviewed the progress in joint education program between HITWH and Macquarie University after Associate professor Wang’s visit last year. President Xu extended his gratitude to Associate Professor Wang for his contribution to the successful signing of the cooperation agreement between the two universities, which made HITWH the only university across the world that Macquarie University works with on a joint cultivation program in IT field.
Wang Yan introduced the work Macquarie University had done in promoting the implementation of joint education program. As a teacher who had worked at HIT, he expected to provide more opportunities for students who wanted to pursue higher education and cultivate more talents through his own efforts.
During the meeting, the two sides had in-depth exchanges on how to strengthen scientific research collaboration and promote exchanges between the faculties in the field of computer science.
Professor Wang Yan also gave an academic report to the students of Jinsong College during his visit, and talked with students on studying abroad.
The School of Computer Science, Macquarie University and HITWH have carried out the “2+2” dual degree program and the “3+1+1” bachelor and master degree program since 2016, which provides grand opportunities for students in computer science, software engineering, electronic communications, electrical engineering, physics and mathematics to study in Australia.
The “2+2” double degree program offers a two-year study at Macquarie University after a two-year study at HITWH. Students will be granted bachelor's degrees by both universities after completion of the program. Students participating in “3+1+1” program are required to finish a three-year study in HITWH before a one-year study at Macquarie University to acquire the Bachelor’s degree of HITWH. After another one-year study at Macquarie University, students will be offered the Master’s degree of Macquarie University.
