About the speaker:

Dr. Xie Zongli is the director of the Australian Manufacturing and Materials Precinct of the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO). In addition, as a member of the Membrane Society of Australasia, Dr. Xie is an experienced researcher in the application and development of environmental catalyst, nanocomposite pervaporation membrane, membrane distillation and waste water recycling in industrial technology, mineral separation and purification and membrane of the separation and recovery of industrial steam.

Dr. Xies research mainly covers the development of environmental catalysis for industrial emissions control, catalytic deodorization, the development of membrane materials and the purification of industrial wastewater. 

Dr. Xie is currently working on secondary catalyst for N2O emission reduction used in nitric acid plant, DeNOx catalyst used in coal-fired boiler and advanced membrane technology used for the treatment of industrial wastewater.

Major scientific achievements of Dr. Xie include the industrial production of ceramic material used in solid oxide fuel cell and the commercialization of the catalyst for N2O emission reduction (ongoing) and the catalytic deodorization technology.

Dr. Xie has published more than 60 papers, one monograph chapter, and 25 confidential business technical reports, and has won the Innovation Award of CMSE in 2009 and the Chancellors Award for Excellent Cited Research of Victoria University in 2013.
