YU JI SOO, President of Kookmin University (KMU), and YUN GYONG WOO, Kookmin University’s Vice-President of Cooperation, visited HITWH with 5 other delegates on February 15th. Professor Xu Xiaofei, Vice President of Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT), and President of Harbin Institute of Technology, Weihai (HITWH), met the Kookmin University Delegation and signed the cooperation framework agreement with them. Also present were Yang Jianguo and Wang Jianfeng, Dean and Assistant Dean of the School of Automobile Engineering, and Dong Ke, Deputy Director of the HITWH International Affairs Office.
Professor Xu first introduced HIT and its academic standing and national influence, particularly the establishment and development of HITWH. Then he elaborated on HITWH’s “1-2-3-3” Guiding Principle and internationalization endeavors, and highlighted HIT-Weihai Innovation Park (HIT-WHIP) and the International School of Ocean Science and Engineering (HIT-ISOSE).
President YU JI SOO introduced Kookmin University’s current status and its student cultivation. Founded in 1946 and located in central Seoul, Kookmin University is the first private university since the independence of Republic of Korea. Currently with over 22,000 students in 11 colleges and 14 graduate schools, it has become a recognized leader in Korea in mechanic and automotive engineering.
Two sides discussed on the exchanges and cooperation in such fields as Automotive Engineering and Software Engineering, the implementation of joint education programs, and academic exchanges among teachers of the two universities. The discussion also covered the construction of student formula racing team, which is of common concern for both universities.
At the end of the meeting, Professor Xu and President YU JI SOO signed a framework agreement for an all-round cooperation in exchange programs for teachers, undergraduates and postgraduate students, as well as in joint academic researches and joint organization of academic conferences, etc.
The Kookmin University delegation also visited the Robotics laboratory and HITWH Racing Team during their stay in Weihai.
